Gandapur writes to PM over federal committee’s oversight of merged districts’ funds

Peshawar, January 25, 2025: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has expressed concerns regarding the formation of a federal committee tasked with overseeing funds allocated for the merged districts of the province. In a formal letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Gandapur highlighted his reservations about the committee’s role in managing resources for these areas, which were integrated into KP following the 25th constitutional amendment.

In the letter, Gandapur reminded the Prime Minister that the 25th amendment had incorporated the merged districts into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, granting the provincial government full administrative control over these regions. He stressed that the formation of the federal committee undermines the authority of the provincial government and violates the constitutional provisions.

“This notification of the committee is a violation of the constitution and an infringement on the provincial government’s authority. The federal government should revoke this notification,” Gandapur asserted in the letter.

The Chief Minister also warned that if the issue remains unresolved, the provincial government may seek judicial intervention to safeguard its constitutional rights.
