Farooq Sattar accuses PPP of corruption; Sindh government dismisses allegations

Karachi, February 16, 2025: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar has accused the Sindh government of decades-long corruption, alleging that it has used its 61-year rule as a shield for misgovernance and exploitation.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Sattar claimed that constitutional and legal governance is absent in Sindh, and that the ruling party continues its oppression, injustice, and criminal negligence under the guise of power. He also highlighted the rise of the so-called dumper mafia, stating, “Earlier, Karachi suffered from a transport mafia; now, the dumper mafia roams free. Citizens are being victimized, and this is being deliberately allowed to provoke unrest. Authorities are not even discussing the arrest of those responsible.”

Sattar further warned of an alleged conspiracy to incite violence between Muhajirs and Pashtuns, similar to past conflicts. “If MQM had not preached patience, the city would have been in flames by now,” he asserted.

In response, Sindh government spokesperson Sadia Javed dismissed Sattar’s claims, stating that the people of Karachi have rejected MQM’s politics of hatred and division. “The era of prejudice and sectarianism is over. The public has moved past MQM’s theatrics, and no amount of noise can bring them back,” she said.

Javed emphasized that Karachi’s citizens have left behind the dark days of extortion, targeted killings, and fear-driven politics. “The politics of coercion has been buried,” she remarked. She also highlighted the Sindh government’s ongoing efforts to curb traffic accidents and improve public safety.

The political war of words between MQM and the Sindh government continues, reflecting deep-seated tensions over governance and urban issues in Karachi.
