Karachi, February 21, 2025: Authorities have exhumed the body of Mustafa Amir from the Edhi Cemetery in Moach Goth, Karachi, and transferred it to a morgue for further investigation.
The exhumation, conducted under tight security, was overseen by a medical team and witnessed by Police Surgeon Dr. Samiya Syed and Amir Hassan, head of the CPLC Identification Project. Before the procedure, the grave was examined, and multiple samples were collected from the body for forensic analysis.
According to reports, the body had been handed over to the Edhi Foundation by Daryaji police on February 12. However, after remaining unclaimed for four days, it was buried at the Moach Goth Edhi Cemetery on February 16.
A post-mortem examination is now set to determine the cause of death, with DNA samples collected to confirm the victim’s identity. Sources indicate that between 7 to 11 samples have been sent to the Karachi University forensic laboratory, with results expected in three to four days. Once confirmed, the body will be returned to Mustafa Amir’s family.
The Sindh High Court had earlier approved the exhumation following a police request. A judicial magistrate granted permission, directing the formation of a medical board to conduct a post-mortem and DNA analysis.
Meanwhile, two suspects, Armaghan and Shiraz, accused in Mustafa Amir’s murder, are scheduled to appear for remand at Anti-Terrorism Court No. 3 tomorrow.
Prosecutor General Sindh, Muntazir Mehdi, confirmed that the remand application has been submitted. Previously, Armaghan was granted a four-day remand in Court No. 2, while Shiraz’s remand was initially approved in Court No. 1. The case has now been transferred, placing both suspects under Court No. 2’s jurisdiction.
Additionally, SSP Hub has ordered a thorough investigation, directing SDPO Winder, Muhammad Jan, to gather more evidence. Authorities are also probing why police were not informed sooner about the burning vehicle. Investigators suspect that the suspects were familiar with the Daryaji area and are working to retrace their movements leading up to the crime.
A case was registered against unidentified individuals after Mustafa Amir’s burned car and body were discovered on January 12.
Mustafa Amir, missing since January 6, was allegedly murdered by his childhood friends, who later set his body and car on fire.
According to investigators, the murder stemmed from a dispute between Mustafa and Armaghan over a girl on New Year’s Eve. On January 6, Armaghan reportedly lured Mustafa to his house under false pretenses, where he was violently killed.
Following the murder, the suspects placed Mustafa’s body in the trunk of his car and transported it to Hub, Balochistan, where they set the vehicle ablaze.
Authorities believe Armaghan and Shiraz were directly responsible for burning the car and disposing of the body.
During the investigation, police seized modern weapons from Armaghan’s residence, prompting the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to probe their origin. The FIA has also been asked to analyze data from a laptop recovered from Armaghan’s bungalow.
Adding to the chilling details, an audio recording has surfaced, allegedly capturing Mustafa’s last moments. In the recording, Mustafa is heard telling a friend that he is on his way to Armaghan’s house, even suggesting the friend join him later. The revelation has raised serious concerns about the case, as it suggests that Mustafa’s friend may have known his whereabouts but failed to alert authorities for over a month.
Investigators are now scrutinizing all leads to uncover the full extent of the crime and the possible involvement of additional individuals.
