Islamabad, September, 11, 2024- In an intense match at the Asian Champions Trophy, the Pakistan hockey team triumphed over Japan with a hard-fought 2-1 victory on Wednesday, marking an important win in their campaign.

Pakistan displayed their offensive prowess early, taking a commanding 2-0 lead. The match came to life in the second quarter when Ahmed Nadeem netted the first goal, followed closely by Sufyan Khan, whose well-placed shot doubled the advantage for Pakistan.

Throughout the first half, Pakistan’s swift and coordinated attacks left the Japanese defense struggling to keep up. However, Japan responded with determination, as Raiki Fujishima scored just before half-time, narrowing the lead to 2-1 and reigniting hope for his team.

The second half saw a gripping contest, with both sides battling for control. Despite Japan’s relentless efforts to equalize, Pakistan’s defense stood firm, effectively repelling several dangerous attacks. In the end, Pakistan held on to their slim lead, securing a much-needed victory.

Pakistan’s next challenge will be a high-stakes group clash against India, scheduled for September 14.
