Rawalpindi, February 27, 2025:The ninth match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between hosts Pakistan and Bangladesh was completely washed out on Thursday due to continuous rain in Rawalpindi.

Fans eagerly anticipating a thrilling contest were left disappointed as the persistent downpour prevented even the toss from taking place. With weather conditions deteriorating throughout the day, match officials had no choice but to call off the game without a single ball being bowled.

As a result, both Pakistan and Bangladesh ended their tournament campaigns winless, finishing at the bottom of the points table.

Pakistan’s tournament opener took place on February 19 at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi against New Zealand. Batting first, the Blackcaps posted a commanding 320/5, courtesy of centuries from Will Young and Tom Latham.

Despite high expectations, Pakistan’s bowling attack struggled, with Naseem Shah emerging as the only standout performer, finishing with 2/63 in 10 overs. Fellow pacer Haris Rauf proved expensive, conceding 83 runs in his full quota of overs.

In response, Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed, managing only 260 all out in 47.2 overs. Khushdil Shah was the top scorer with a 49-ball 69, while captain Babar Azam contributed a scratchy 64 off 90 deliveries.

Facing a must-win clash against arch-rivals India in Dubai, Pakistan once again faltered under pressure. Batting first, they posted a modest 241, with Saud Shakeel top-scoring with a cautious 62 off 76 balls. Kuldeep Yadav led India’s bowling attack with 3/40 in nine overs.

India comfortably chased down the 242-run target with 45 balls to spare, thanks to a masterful century from Virat Kohli, sealing Pakistan’s early exit from the tournament.
