Islamabad, March 7, 2025: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has summoned 25 senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including top figures, over allegations of anti-state propaganda. Several key leaders appeared before the JIT to provide clarifications.
According to sources, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar was questioned for nearly 90 minutes, addressing concerns related to the case. Other senior leaders, including Rauf Hasan and Shah Farman, also complied with the summons. Alia Hamza and Kanwal Shauzab, however, sent legal representatives on their behalf.
The federal government-constituted JIT, led by the Inspector General of Police Islamabad, interrogated PTI leaders on social media activity, financing, and party-related matters. Sources revealed that individuals were shown certain social media posts and asked about party-linked digital handlers.
Prominent PTI leaders summoned included Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hasan, Syed Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, Hammad Azhar, Aun Abbas, Alia Hamza Malik, Muhammad Shehbaz Shabbir, Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Taimur Saleem Khan, Asad Qaiser and Shah Farman.
The JIT also summoned key members of PTI’s social media team, including Zulfi Bukhari, Asif Rasheed, Muhammad Arshad, Sibghatullah Virk, Azhar Mashwani, Muhammad Noman Afzal Jibran Ilyas, Syed Salman Raza Zaidi, Moosa Virk and Ali Hasnain Malik.
However, none of these social media team members appeared before the investigation team. The JIT proceedings are expected to continue, with further summons and inquiries anticipated in the coming days.
