Islamabad, March 17, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has officially decided to attend the upcoming Parliamentary National Security Committee meeting, marking a significant shift in the party’s stance on security consultations.
According to sources, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and several senior leaders advocated for the party’s participation, emphasizing the importance of engaging in national security discussions. Junaid Akbar, however, suggested consulting PTI’s founder before finalizing the decision.
PTI has submitted a list of 14 members to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, who will represent the party in the session. The list includes Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Amer Dogar, Sanaullah Masti Khel, Ali Muhammad Khan, Senator Ali Zafar. Senator Humayun Muhammad and Senator Awan Abbas.
The in-camera session, convened by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will take place on Tuesday in the National Assembly Hall. During the meeting, military leadership will brief parliamentary leaders on the current national security situation.
The session will include parliamentary leaders from all major political parties, their designated representatives, and key cabinet members.
PTI’s decision to participate underscores its willingness to engage in national security deliberations while maintaining its broader political stance.
