Islamabad, April 6, 2025: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati has issued a strongly worded statement regarding recent rumors surrounding his relationship with party founder Imran Khan, taking an oath on the Quran to underscore the authenticity of his remarks.
Speaking to the media, Swati dismissed reports circulating in the media about alleged disagreements with the PTI founder, clarifying that “false stories have been attributed to me.” He added that during one of his meetings with Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Khan’s wife, was also present.
Swati revealed that he once told Imran Khan, “You have too many unreliable people around you,” and admitted that his own political standing had diminished significantly. “I told him I no longer have even a hundred votes left in Mansehra, let alone one hundred thousand,” he said.
He further stated that in December 2022, Imran Khan expressed his desire to initiate dialogue with the then-newly appointed Army Chief. “The PTI founder told me he trusted me and asked me to engage with the military leadership on his behalf,” Swati claimed.
Following Khan’s directive, Swati said he attempted to establish contact with the Army Chief through one of his former mentors and also tried to initiate talks via President Arif Alvi, but “the doors remained closed.”
Swati also revealed that party leaders had picked him up from his residence and asked him to help postpone the rally scheduled for August 22.
“Barrister Gohar came to my house and took me to Adiala Jail, where I met the PTI founder again,” he said. “I told him that I would speak with the establishment through Arif Alvi and other trusted associates.” According to Swati, Imran Khan responded by saying there was no need to disclose whom he was reaching out to and reiterated, “If they want to talk, I’ve been ready from day one.”
Responding to allegations made by a vlogger questioning his whereabouts on November 26, Swati clarified, “I was in Attock Jail at the time, where I faced torture. I have no intention of creating division within the party.”
Swati concluded his statement with a call for unity and accountability. “If this country is to be saved, those who spread chaos and discord must be silenced,” he said, expressing full support for Ali Amin Gandapur, whom he referred to as “the PTI founder’s choice for Chief Minister.”
