Rawalpindi, April 17, 2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Thursday credited the peace and freedom enjoyed in Pakistan today to the sacrifices made by the country’s armed forces.
Speaking at an investiture ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, General Munir conferred military honours, including the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat, to officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army. The awards recognized exceptional bravery in operations and distinguished service to the nation. Medals awarded posthumously were received by the families of the martyrs.
A large number of senior military officials and relatives of the award recipients attended the ceremony.
Paying tribute to the fallen and the veterans, General Munir said, “Shuhada (martyrs) and Ghazis (warriors) are our enduring pride. Their honour and reverence are a sacred trust upon every Pakistani.” He also commended the resilience and courage of the martyrs’ families.
The army chief further praised the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies for their ongoing counterterrorism efforts, including the elimination of high-value terrorist targets.
