Multan, 17 October 2024 – At the end of the third day of the ongoing second Test between Pakistan and England, England had scored 36 runs for the loss of two wickets. Pakistan needs eight more wickets to win the Test.
Thanks to the brilliant bowling of Sajid Khan and Nauman Ali, England’s batting faltered early in their second innings, losing two quick wickets.
In the match being played at Multan Cricket Stadium, England resumed their first innings on the second day with 239 runs for six wickets and added only 52 more runs before being all out for 291.
Braden Carse scored 4, Matthew Potts 6, Jamie Smith 21, and Shoaib Bashir was dismissed for 9 runs. Jack Leach remained not out with 25 runs. Pakistan’s Sajid Khan took 7 wickets and Nauman Ali grabbed 3 wickets.
Pakistan, starting their second innings, lost Abdullah Shafique early again for just 4 runs. Captain Shan Masood could only score 11, Saim Ayub contributed 22 runs, Kamran Ghulam, who had scored a century in the first innings, added 26, while Mohammad Rizwan made 23, Saud Shakeel 31, and both Aamir Jamal and Nauman Ali were dismissed for 1 run each. Agha Salman fell after scoring brilliant 63 runs, and Sajid Khan was out for 22 as Pakistan managed a total of 221 runs. With their first innings lead, Pakistan set England a target of 297 runs to win.
For England, Shoaib Bashir took 4 wickets, Jack Leach claimed 3, Braden Carse took 2, and Matthew Potts picked up 1 wicket.
