Kalat, November 16, 2024 -Seven security personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack on a check post in the Kalat district of Balochistan province. According to security sources, the attack occurred at the Shah Mardan check post, where unidentified assailants opened fire. In addition to the seven martyrs, 15 others were injured. A heavy contingent of security forces quickly reached the site, cordoned off the area, and initiated a search operation. The bodies of the martyrs and the injured were transported to Quetta for medical treatment and further proceedings.
This tragic incident follows a suicide bombing on November 9 at the Quetta Railway Station, which claimed 26 lives, including a woman, and injured over 60 others, highlighting the persistent security challenges in the region.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack, paying tribute to the martyred personnel and expressing heartfelt condolences to their families. He praised their sacrifice, stating that their service to the nation will be remembered as the highest act of valor.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, extending her sympathies to the bereaved families and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack as well, acknowledging the sacrifices of security personnel for national peace. He reaffirmed that such sacrifices would not be in vain and vowed to continue efforts against terrorism.
In the wake of escalating terrorist incidents, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced the temporary suspension of mobile internet services in parts of Balochistan. This precautionary measure aims to ensure public safety, as directed by the authorities.
The PTA stated that the suspension reflects the deteriorating security situation in the region. While no timeline has been provided for the restoration of services, this step underscores Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to manage the rising wave of violence, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The security situation in Balochistan continues to worsen, posing significant challenges to peace and stability in the province.Bottom of Form
