Lahore, January 5, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to send national cricketer Saim Ayub to London for immediate medical treatment after he sustained an injury during the Test match against South Africa.
According to the PCB, the decision was made in consultation with medical experts. Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi personally reached out to Saim Ayub to inquire about his condition and conveyed his best wishes for a swift recovery.
Naqvi confirmed that Saim Ayub will be examined by specialist sports orthopedists in London, with appointments already arranged. He further noted that Dr. Mumrez, who is managing Saim’s case in Pakistan, has shared all relevant medical reports with the specialists in London.
Highlighting the importance of Saim Ayub to Pakistan cricket, Naqvi assured that every possible measure would be taken to ensure his prompt recovery. The batter is set to fly to London on the earliest available flight from Cape Town, accompanied by assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, who will facilitate the arrangements.
Expressing concern over the incident, Naqvi emphasized that the PCB would utilize all available resources to provide the best medical care for Saim Ayub. He expressed hope that the young batter would recover in time to participate in the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Saim Ayub sustained a twisted right ankle on the first day of the final Test against South Africa following a fielding mishap.
