Rawalpindi, January 12, 2025: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur arrived at Adiala Jail on Sunday, accompanied by full government protocol, to hold critical consultations with former prime minister Imran Khan regarding ongoing negotiations with the government.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) negotiation committee is also scheduled to meet Imran Khan for further deliberations on the matter.
The committee, which includes prominent opposition figures such as Omer Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, and Salman Akram Raja, is preparing for the third round of talks with the government.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser expressed gratitude upon being granted permission for the meeting, stating, “Thank God, I am pleased to meet our leader today.”
Earlier, a spokesperson for the National Assembly told media that opposition leader Omer Ayub and Asad Qaiser contacted Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq by telephone to formally request permission for a meeting with Imran Khan. The Speaker subsequently informed the government of the request, fulfilling his role as a facilitator.
The spokesperson further confirmed that after meeting with Imran Khan, the PTI negotiation committee would reconnect with the National Assembly Speaker to proceed with the discussions. The third round of talks is expected to take place either on Monday or Tuesday, during which PTI is anticipated to present its demands in writing.
These discussions come amid heightened political tensions as both sides aim to find common ground to address pressing national issues.
