Islamabad, January 29, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has appointed Syed Muhammad Ali Bukhari as the acting president of the party’s Islamabad region, while incumbent president Aamir Mughal continues to claim the position, signaling an internal rift within PTI’s ranks.
In a sudden move, Barrister Gohar issued a notification appointing Bukhari as acting president without citing any reason for replacing Aamir Mughal. However, Mughal has not acknowledged the change and continues to present himself as the party’s Islamabad president.
On Wednesday, Mughal reaffirmed his position through a social media post, referring to himself as the Islamabad region president, highlighting a clear division within the party leadership. Sources told SUB NEWS that Aamir Mughal has yet not accepted the new move of the party leadership.
Earlier, PTI co-founder Imran Khan approved the appointment of Junaid Akbar Khan as PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president. The position became vacant after Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur resigned, citing personal reasons.
The latest leadership changes reflect ongoing adjustments within PTI, with potential implications for the party’s internal cohesion and regional organization.
