Washington, February 7, 2025: Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has openly confirmed his relationship with Paula Hurd, describing her as his “serious girlfriend” in a recent interview.
At 69, Gates, who has kept his personal life private following his divorce from Melinda French Gates in 2021, shared that he and Hurd are enjoying their time together. “I’m lucky to have a serious girlfriend named Paula,” he said. “We’re having fun, going to the Olympics, and doing a lot of great things.”
Reflecting on his 27-year marriage with Melinda, Gates acknowledged that the divorce was challenging but expressed no regrets about their time together. “The divorce wasn’t great,” he admitted. “Having those three kids, the work we were able to do together—even if I knew it wouldn’t last forever, I would still do it again.”
Despite the separation, Gates and Melinda continue to co-parent their three children and share family moments. “Melinda and I still see each other—we have three kids and two grandchildren, so there are family events. The kids are doing well. They have good values,” Gates shared.
During the interview, Gates also spoke about the influence his parents had on his life, especially in shaping his future. Reflecting on turning 70 this year and Microsoft’s 50th anniversary, he credited his parents for encouraging him to explore and take risks.
Gates’ relationship with Paula Hurd, a philanthropist and businesswoman who was previously married to Oracle CEO Mark Hurd until his passing in 2019, first made headlines in 2022.
When asked about his current outlook on life, Gates stated, “I’ve moved past the divorce, and Melinda’s doing well. I’ve got a lot of work that I love to do. So I’m not really complaining about anything.”
