Islamabad, February 10, 2025: A boat carrying 65 Pakistani nationals has capsized near Marsa Dela port, Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed on Monday. According to a statement issued by the Pakistani Embassy in Libya, a rescue operation is underway, with embassy officials working to gather further details about the Pakistani victims.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated that a team from the Pakistani Embassy in Libya has been dispatched to the site, while the Crisis Management Unit of the Foreign Ministry has been activated to monitor the situation closely.

This tragic incident comes just months after a deadly boat capsizing near Greece in December 2024, where over 80 Pakistanis drowned, with 36 survivors and the rest presumed dead.
Following that disaster, more than 30 Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officers were dismissed and booked for alleged collaboration with human smugglers, facilitating the illegal migration of Pakistanis abroad.
As authorities work to determine the casualties and survivors from the latest accident, the Pakistani government has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on human trafficking networks responsible for these perilous journeys.
