Peshawar, February 16, 2025: Five people were killed in a shooting incident in Peshawar’s Badaber area early Sunday morning, police officials confirmed.
According to a police statement, the attack took place around 2 a.m. in the Mashokhel area when the accused opened indiscriminate fire on a vehicle. “The shooting was driven by personal enmity,” police stated, adding that raids are underway to apprehend the suspects.
The incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks fueled by personal disputes. Last month, a deadly clash between two groups in Peshawar’s Tehkal area left five people dead and six others injured, with police attributing the violence to a long-standing feud.
Similar cases have been reported across the region. In Wana, South Waziristan, an old enmity resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a policeman, in two separate incidents. Meanwhile, in Saidu Sharif’s Gulkada area, a senior lawyer and his brother were shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
Most recently, a 65-year-old Afghan national was killed in Karachi’s Baldia-8 area on Wednesday evening. According to Saeedabad SHO Idris Bangash, the victim, Allauddin, was shot outside a mosque moments after receiving a phone call. He was rushed to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors pronounced him dead. Police suspect personal enmity as the motive behind the killing.
Authorities have expressed concern over the rising number of such incidents and have vowed to intensify efforts to curb violence stemming from personal disputes.
