Rawalpindi, March 5, 2025: Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted a cowardly terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment on March 4, 2025, eliminating 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the intense battle resulted in the martyrdom of five valiant soldiers and 13 innocent civilians, while 32 others sustained injuries.
According to ISPR, Khwarij-linked militants attempted to breach the heavily fortified Bannu Cantonment by ramming two explosive-laden vehicles into the perimeter wall. Despite the powerful blasts, Pakistan’s security forces responded swiftly and decisively, neutralizing all attackers before they could cause further destruction.
In the heroic defense of the cantonment, five soldiers embraced martyrdom while putting up a valiant resistance. The suicide blasts partially destroyed the perimeter wall, severely damaging nearby structures, including a mosque and a civilian residential building, leading to civilian casualties.
ISPR reported that intelligence assessments confirm the direct involvement of Afghan nationals in orchestrating the attack. Evidence suggests that Khwarij ringleaders operating from Afghanistan planned and directed the assault, escalating security concerns along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Pakistan has called on the Interim Afghan Government to fulfill its international obligations and ensure that its territory is not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. ISPR emphasized that Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary defensive measures to protect its sovereignty.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unyielding resolve to eliminate terrorism, ISPR stated that the sacrifices of brave soldiers and innocent civilians further strengthen national determination to combat extremist threats.
Security forces across the country remain on high alert, ensuring that Pakistan will never succumb to terrorism and will defend its people at all costs.
