Islamabad, March 8, 2025: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed their commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment on International Women’s Day, highlighting the vital role of women in Pakistan’s progress.

In their official statements, both leaders stressed the need to address challenges such as gender discrimination, violence, and economic barriers. They reiterated the government’s dedication to advancing women’s rights through policy reforms, legal protections, and institutional support.

President Zardari praised the resilience and contributions of women to social development, stating, “Societies that uphold equal rights and opportunities for women are more prosperous and peaceful.” He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding women’s rights in accordance with constitutional provisions and international obligations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described women as the “builders of society” and the “pillars of homes,” acknowledging their growing presence in all sectors, from education and business to agriculture and frontline services. “Investing in women’s education, health, and economic independence uplifts entire generations,” he said.

He also underscored Islam’s emphasis on women’s dignity and rights, urging collective efforts to build an inclusive society where women can reach their full potential.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, “For all women and girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment,” both leaders called for sustained efforts to enhance women’s security, education, and economic opportunities, emphasizing that the path to true gender equality requires continuous progress.
