London, March 8, 2025: A UK man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting to smuggle firearm parts from Pakistan, the National Crime Agency (NCA) announced on Saturday.

Yasir Khan, 40, was behind an elaborate scheme to smuggle 72 firearm components, including 36 top slides and 36 barrels for 9mm Glock self-loading pistols, hidden inside a 1976 Datsun Sunny shipped from Pakistan.

According to the NCA, the gun parts were expertly concealed within the vehicle. After a thorough investigation, officers arrested Khan in July last year.

Khan, who claimed to be a car dealer, was found to have voice notes on his phone indicating direct communication with a Pakistani supplier linked to firearm manufacturers.

He was also suspected of involvement in a similar smuggling attempt in November 2023. Investigators discovered that Khan had purchased multiple deactivated firearms, which he was believed to have restored into lethal weapons.

A video shared by the NCA on social media platform X captured the moment armed officers raided a vehicle Khan was in, placing him in handcuffs and taking him into custody.

Khan later pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court, where he was handed his eight-year prison sentence.

The NCA has reiterated its commitment to tackling firearms smuggling, emphasizing that such illegal imports fuel organized crime and pose a significant threat to public safety.
