Karachi, March 18, 2025: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has strongly refuted claims of a shortage of fresh banknotes, emphasizing that the central bank is continuing its longstanding practice of issuing new currency notes to commercial banks ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In an official statement, the SBP confirmed that it has already issued Rs27 billion in fresh currency notes of various denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks across the country. The central bank assured the public that commercial banks, with their extensive nationwide networks, will facilitate easy access to new currency notes.

To further ensure uninterrupted access to high-quality banknotes, the SBP has implemented a system to maintain adequate cash flow through ATMs during the festive period. The central bank has also deployed cash monitoring teams to conduct on-site inspections at commercial bank branches, ensuring fair and proper disbursement of new banknotes to the public.

The SBP reassured citizens that there is no disruption in the supply of fresh banknotes and urged the public to rely on official sources for accurate information regarding currency issuance.
