Constitutional amendment: Khawaja Asif claims to have secured required numbers

Islamabad, September 13, 2024- Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that a constitutional amendment will be presented in the National Assembly tomorrow. While speaking informally in the corridors of the Parliament today, Khawaja Asif said that a session of the National Assembly is being convened tomorrow. Responding to A journalist’s question, Khawaja Asif said, “Yes, we will present constitutional amendments in tomorrow’s session.” The journalist then asked if they have enough numbers for the constitutional amendment, to which Khawaja Asif said, “Yes, we have enough numbers for the constitutional amendment.”

On the other hand, Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazir Tarar denied that a constitutional amendment will be presented tomorrow. When asked by a journalist about the constitutional amendment, Azam Nazir Tarar said that discussions are currently focused on the issue of the opposition MNAs. He added that the Interior Minister has also been called regarding the arrests, and they are saying that production orders will be issued if the session continues. When asked if a constitutional amendment will be introduced tomorrow, Azam Nazir Tarar responded, “No, you know more about this than I do.”
