Mumbai, April 3, 2025: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s latest action drama, Sikandar, is facing an underwhelming run at the box office despite releasing during the festive Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

The film, which hit theaters on March 30, opened with a decent start, earning INR 26 crore on its first day, according to Indian media reports. Collections saw a slight boost on Eid day, reaching INR 29 crore, but the momentum was short-lived. By Tuesday, Sikandar experienced a significant 32% decline, dropping to INR 19.5 crore.

Compared to Salman Khan’s previous Eid blockbusters, such as Tiger 3 and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sikandar is lagging behind both in box office numbers and audience reception. As of Wednesday afternoon, the film had only added INR 3.88 crore, bringing its total domestic collection to INR 78.38 crore.

With diminishing audience interest, Sikandar is already being replaced in key theaters, particularly in cities like Surat and Ahmedabad, where films such as The Diplomat and All The Best Pandya are taking over its screens.

Salman Khan’s Eid releases have traditionally crossed INR 100 crore within the first three days, but Sikandar is projected to take at least five days to reach that milestone—a concerning sign for a festival release.

Beyond the numbers, the film has also received lukewarm reviews, with fans expressing disappointment over Salman Khan’s “lazy” and “stiff” portrayal of the titular character. Despite high expectations, Sikandar failed to impress critics and audiences alike, marking a rare box office stumble for the Bollywood megastar.

While Salman Khan has previously delivered record-breaking Eid hits, Sikandar’s struggles signal a shift in audience preferences—suggesting that even festival releases need stronger content to sustain long-term success.
