WhatsApp faces global outage, hits users in Pakistan

Islamabad, April 12, 2025: WhatsApp services were disrupted globally on Saturday, leaving millions of users — including those across Pakistan — unable to send or receive messages, images, or videos.

The outage reportedly began around midday in Pakistan and quickly triggered a wave of complaints on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), where users shared their frustration and confusion.

“Messages aren’t going through, and media files aren’t uploading either,” posted one user, echoing the experience of countless others. The disruption affected both individual and group chats, with some users also reporting issues accessing the web and desktop versions of the app. So far, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has not issued an official statement clarifying the cause of the outage or when services are expected to resume.

The problem is believed to be part of a broader global technical issue, with reports of similar disruptions coming in from Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Users are advised to stay tuned for updates from official channels and to use alternative communication apps until services are fully restored.
