Islamabad, April 17, 2025: Ethiopia’s Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary, Jemal Beker Abdula, called on Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi on Thursday to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the state of Ethiopia-Pakistan relations, with particular focus on the recent launch of Ethiopian Airlines operations from Karachi — a move that has deepened Pakistan’s connectivity with Ethiopia and the broader African continent.
The dialogue also touched upon prospects for bilateral cooperation in maintaining peace and security. Ambassador Abdula highlighted shared global challenges such as climate change, terrorism, and piracy, emphasizing the importance of collaborative action to advance peace and prosperity.
The Ambassador further congratulated Minister Naqvi, who also chairs the Pakistan Cricket Board, on his recent appointment as President of the Asian Cricket Council. He lauded Pakistan’s successful preparations for hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Ambassador Abdula noted that Ethiopia and Pakistan continue to work together in multilateral forums, particularly under the United Nations’ Blue Helmets peacekeeping missions, to uphold global peace and security.
Minister Naqvi expressed appreciation for Ethiopia’s support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Ethiopia. He assured the Ambassador of his full support in advancing mutual interests across key sectors.
