Rawalpindi, April 18, 2025: In a significant counter-terrorism success, Pakistani security forces eliminated four Khwarij militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Swat district, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced on Friday.
The operation was jointly conducted by Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of Khwarij in the area.
“During the operation, our troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, resulting in the killing of four Khwarij,” the ISPR said in a statement.
The slain militants were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region. Security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the site.
A sanitization operation is currently underway to clear the area of any remaining threats. The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, remain committed to eliminating terrorism from the country.
The successful operation drew praise from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who lauded the bravery and professionalism of the forces involved.
President Zardari, in his statement, highlighted the importance of timely intelligence and praised the security forces for their swift and strategic response.
“The whole nation stands united behind our armed forces. Intelligence-based operations are crucial in dismantling terrorist networks,” he said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed similar sentiments, vowing to continue the fight against terrorism.
“The war against terrorism will persist until it is fully eradicated. The nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its armed forces,” he affirmed.
The operation is part of Pakistan’s ongoing effort to combat terrorism and maintain peace, particularly in sensitive areas that have seen resurgences of militant activity in recent years.
