Islamabad, April 27, 2025: Amid escalating tensions following the Pahalgam incident, Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday, during which he briefed him on the latest regional developments. Dar strongly rejected India’s “unilateral and illegal actions” and denounced what he described as baseless Indian propaganda.

He praised Beijing’s steadfast support for Pakistan and reaffirmed Islamabad’s enduring commitment to its “ironclad” friendship with China. Both sides reiterated their resolve to deepen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors while promoting mutual respect and understanding.

Following the call, Deputy Prime Minister Dar stated that Pakistan has adopted an effective and proactive diplomatic strategy in response to the Pahalgam developments. Speaking at a ceremony hosted by the Old Ravian Association in Lahore, he emphasized that Pakistan had delivered a “befitting response” to India’s recent moves.

Dar also criticized India’s decision to terminate the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a reckless and irresponsible act. He stressed that the treaty, a cornerstone of regional water management, cannot be altered or suspended unilaterally, but only through mutual agreement.

The evolving regional dynamics have added urgency to Islamabad and Beijing’s efforts to coordinate closely and uphold peace and stability in South Asia.
