Islamabad, May 2, 2025: Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Ethiopia, called on Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to review preparations for upcoming bilateral trade events in Ethiopia.
During the meeting, both sides discussed in detail the arrangements for the Pak-Africa Trade Development Conference and the Pakistan Single Country Exhibition, scheduled to be held in Addis Ababa from May 15 to 17, 2025. The officials expressed satisfaction with the ongoing preparations and welcomed the strong response from Pakistani traders and investors, following a joint mobilization campaign by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and the Government of Pakistan.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal also extended a formal invitation to Ambassador Hamid to attend the High-Level Business Forum “Invest in Ethiopia”, to be held in Addis Ababa from May 12 to 13. He noted that the upcoming exhibition will mark a new chapter in Pak-Ethiopia bilateral relations by opening avenues for sustainable trade and commercial engagement.
“The Government of Ethiopia and its business community are fully prepared to host the Pakistani delegation,” Dr. Jemal said, emphasizing the long-term potential of trade partnerships between the two nations.
He also highlighted the recent commencement of Ethiopian Airlines’ operations in Pakistan, calling it a “strategic instrument” for the successful implementation of Pakistan’s “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy.
Ambassador Hamid Asghar praised the leadership and efforts of Ambassador Dr. Jemal in mobilizing Pakistan’s business sector for the exhibition and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its engagement with Africa.
“We value Ethiopia’s role in advancing economic diplomacy and are proud to host the Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa as part of our Africa-focused outreach,” he added.
