New York, May 15, 2025: A special ceremony was held in New York to honour Pakistan Air Force (PAF) hero Kamran Masih, who played a distinguished role in defending the nation during the recent conflict with India. The event recognized his exceptional courage and commitment as a frontline pilot.

Former Federal Minister Akram Masih Gill served as the chief guest at the gathering, held under the joint auspices of the Pakistan Christian Association, Overseas Pakistani Global Foundation, and Council on Pak-America Relations. The event brought together members of the overseas Pakistani community to express solidarity with the armed forces and celebrate their valor.

In his keynote address, Gill praised Flight Officer Kamran Masih — a Christian pilot in the PAF — for demonstrating “unwavering courage and professionalism” during the air campaign. Masih reportedly executed a daring maneuver, successfully engaging enemy aircraft and returning safely.

“Kamran Masih has set a remarkable example of courage in national defense,” Gill said. “His actions are a source of pride for the entire Pakistani nation — and especially for the Pakistani Christian community.”

Gill called on the Government of Pakistan to award Kamran Masih the Hilal-e-Jurat, the nation’s second-highest military honor. He also proposed that institutions be named after Masih to commemorate his heroism and inspire future generations.

Gill emphasized that Kamran Masih’s bravery reflects the spirit of Pakistan’s diverse and united armed forces, which include citizens of all faiths committed to the country’s security.

“The victory achieved is not just that of the military, but of the nation’s honor, dignity, and shared values,” he stated.

He also condemned India’s recent aggression, calling its justification based on the Pulwama incident “baseless and provocative.” Praising Pakistan’s “measured and effective response,” Gill called it a defining moment in military professionalism.

Applauding U.S. Role in Ceasefire

Gill welcomed the U.S.-brokered ceasefire between India and Pakistan and extended gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for his role in de-escalating the conflict.

“President Trump’s intervention helped prevent a catastrophic war,” Gill remarked. “The global Pakistani community deeply appreciates this act of diplomacy.”

Among those who also addressed the gathering were William Shahzad, Pastor Robin Yamin, James Cyprean, Mushtaq Kambo, Muhammad Zaheer, and Mrs. Tahira Sharif, all of whom paid tribute to Kamran Masih and the Pakistan Armed Forces. Speakers emphasized the unity of Pakistanis across the globe and called for more platforms to honour national heroes from minority communities.
