CDA Chairman reviews Islamabad development projects, orders expedited progress

Islamabad: May 21, 2025: Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and DG Civil Defense Muhammad Ali Randhawa chaired an important meeting at CDA Headquarters. The meeting was attended by Member Administration Talat Mehmood, Member Environment Isfandyar Baloch, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza along with senior officers from the Islamabad Administration, MCI, DMA and CDA. 

During the meeting, briefing was given on the ongoing projects, projects in hand and future projects especially progress made so far regarding the ongoing development projects in Islamabad. 

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that the beautification and tree plantation work for the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass project should be completed before its inauguration. During the briefing, he was informed that landscaping work around the project has already begun and an urban forest will also be established adjacent to Muree Road Underpass to help reduce environmental pollution. 

The meeting also discussed the expansion of the Faizabad Interchange. It was informed that the tender for the project’s expansion has been issued, and construction activities will commence soon. The meeting was also briefed that 11 out of 20 identified traffic congestion points in the city have been resolved, while measures for the remaining 9 points are being taken ensuring smooth flowing of traffic for commuters.

During the briefing, it was highlighted that repair, renovation, and beautification work on major highways in Islamabad is ongoing, with replacement of old lights with the new LED and other beautiful lights, painting and kerb stone installation progressing rapidly. Chairman CDA directed the early completion of the underpass design for Shaheen Chowk so that work should be started at the earliest.

The meeting was apprised that construction activities at the National Police Academy is progressing swiftly, while the upgradation of the Pakistan Secretariat with provision of adequate parking facilities. It was also shared that the tendering process for the installation of modern, aesthetically pleasing LED lights on Margalla Road, Murree Road, Faisal Avenue and Diplomatic Enclave is underway. 

Regarding the Diplomatic Enclave’s beautification, the meeting was briefed that road infrastructure development, tree plantation and LED light installation are in progress. Chairman CDA directed the establishment of an high-standard shopping center in the Diplomatic Enclave. He also emphasized designing modern designed entry and exit gates that highlight Pakistani rich heritage and culture as well as construction of walking and cycle track. Additionally, he instructed expediting the upgradation of the Gandhara Citizen Club’s operational and sports arena facilities. 

The meeting was informed that the upgradation of the CDA Model Nursery is progressing rapidly and infrastructure of rural areas improvements in Islamabad is also underway. 

Chairman CDA directed to submit a separate list of transferred projects from PWD to CDA along with their physical and financial progress reports. 

A detailed discussion was held on sector development projects regarding latest progress. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa instructed the swift completion of development work in Sector C-14 and expedited progress in Sector C-15. 

The meeting reviewed the development progress in Sectors E-12, I-12 and Park Enclave. It was informed that estimates for the main gates and boundary walls of Park Enclave Phase have been finalized, and gate designs are ready for immediate execution. Regarding Sector I-15, it was shared that over 85% of development work has been completed, with remaining tasks to commence soon. 

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that all obstacles in sector development be resolved on a priority basis to meet Islamabad’s residential needs and initiate new projects.
