Lahore, May 26, 2025: In a surprising move, star batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been excluded from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 Team of the Tournament, despite strong performances in the recently concluded season.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday unveiled the 12-member squad, selected by members of the official commentary panel. Babar, who captained Peshawar Zalmi, scored 288 runs, while Multan Sultans’ Rizwan amassed 367 runs — yet neither made the final cut.

PSL 10, which ran from April 11 to May 25 across Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, concluded with Lahore Qalandars defeating Quetta Gladiators in a thrilling six-wicket final at Gaddafi Stadium to lift their third title.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, who led Lahore to back-to-back titles, has been named captain of the Team of the Tournament. The 25-year-old left-arm pacer topped the bowling charts with 19 wickets in 13 matches, earning him the Fazal Mahmood Cap.

Afridi is joined by Qalandars teammates Fakhar Zaman (439 runs in 13 matches) and Sikandar Raza, who contributed 254 runs and took 10 wickets in 11 games.

Quetta Gladiators are represented by young sensation Hasan Nawaz, who was named Best Batter of the Tournament for scoring 399 runs, along with all-rounder Faheem Ashraf (17 wickets, 163 runs) and spinner Abrar Ahmed (17 wickets).

Karachi Kings, who reached the playoffs, also have three players in the squad — captain David Warner (368 runs), James Vince (378 runs), and pacer Hasan Ali (17 wickets). Khushdil Shah (253 runs, 7 wickets) was named the 12th man.

Islamabad United’s Sahibzada Farhan, who earned the Hanif Mohammad Cap for being the tournament’s top run-scorer with 449 runs, is the only player from his side and also named as wicketkeeper.

Rounding off the squad is emerging Peshawar Zalmi pacer Ali Raza, who claimed 12 wickets in nine matches and impressed with his pace and consistency.

PSL 10 Team of the Tournament:

  • Fakhar Zaman (Lahore Qalandars)
  • Sahibzada Farhan (Islamabad United) – Wicketkeeper
  • David Warner (Karachi Kings)
  • James Vince (Karachi Kings)
  • Hasan Nawaz (Quetta Gladiators)
  • Sikandar Raza (Lahore Qalandars)
  • Faheem Ashraf (Quetta Gladiators)
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars) – Captain
