Islamabad, September 21,2024-The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has issued notices to 20 different brands over misleading advertisements regarding sales and discounts.

According to a statement from the Commission, several retail stores have been found to be running deceptive advertisements under the guise of “End of Season Sales,” promoting discounts that do not reflect the true nature of the offers. Notices have been sent to 20 brands in response.

The CCP has sought clarification regarding the vague discount announcements and sale offers. Following a survey conducted in various markets in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, it was observed that brands were advertising impressive discounts such as “up to 30% or 50% off.” However, upon visiting the stores, it was found that the highest discounts were only available on less popular products, while the discounts on more popular items were minimal or non-existent.
