Iran launches missile strike near Mossad HQ as conflict with Israel enters fifth day

Tel Aviv, June 17, 2025: Iran launched a fresh wave of ballistic missile strikes early Tuesday targeting key Israeli locations, including an area near the Mossad intelligence headquarters in Tel Aviv, as its confrontation with Israel entered the fifth consecutive day.

According to Israeli media, large plumes of smoke were seen rising near the Mossad complex, triggering fear and widespread panic across the city. Emergency sirens blared in central districts as citizens sought shelter.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the attacks, stating that a “new and more powerful wave of missile operations” had been initiated against what it referred to as “occupied Palestine.” The IRGC claimed that the missiles hit strategic and intelligence-related sites with “maximum impact,” describing the operation as a successful demonstration of Iran’s evolving military capabilities.

Video footage circulating online showed a projectile landing in a residential area in the town of Ibthan, while in Herzliya, a bus parked in a lot was struck and engulfed in flames.

Iranian officials have framed the missile strikes as acts of self-defense in response to continued Israeli assaults on Iranian territory, including the recent assassination of senior Iranian commanders. The strikes, according to Iranian sources, were calibrated to avoid civilian casualties while delivering a “clear and proportionate” message to Tel Aviv.

Iranian state media reported that targets along Israel’s central coastal corridor, including sensitive military and intelligence sites, were struck. Tehran emphasized that further “measured and legitimate” responses would follow if Israeli hostilities continued.

Israel’s military confirmed intercepting several missiles, but acknowledged damage in multiple locations. Emergency services reported no casualties from the latest wave of strikes.

Meanwhile, Iran declared the operation a “strategic success,” claiming it had disrupted Israeli defense operations and reinforced Iran’s readiness to escalate if further provoked.

Israeli attacks on Iran kill 21 in Lorestan and Isfahan

In a related development, Iran accused Israel of launching deadly strikes in retaliation. According to Iranian lawmaker sources cited by international media, at least 21 civilians were killed in an Israeli air raid on Iran’s western province of Lorestan.

Separately, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that a projectile hit a security checkpoint in Kashan, located in the central province of Isfahan, killing at least three people and injuring four others. The agency quoted Akbar Salehi, deputy security officer to the Isfahan governor.

Iranian news outlets Tasnim and ISNA also confirmed the casualties but did not provide further details.

According to official Iranian estimates, over 220 people have been killed in Israeli attacks over the past week, including at least 70 women and children, intensifying calls within Iran for a sustained counter-response.

As diplomatic channels remain largely silent, the conflict between the two regional powers shows little sign of de-escalation.
