Lahore, July 1, 2025: In a notable development, senior incarcerated leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have called on the party’s leadership to initiate dialogue with the government — but made it contingent upon gaining access to the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan.

The proposal was outlined in an open letter signed by prominent PTI leaders, including Senior Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and former ministers Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Umar Sarfraz Cheema.

The letter described the current political and economic situation as one of the gravest crises in Pakistan’s history, stressing that negotiations — both at the political and institutional levels — are the only viable path toward national stability.

The signatories urged the party to move forward with political-level negotiations without delay and proposed the inclusion of PTI’s imprisoned leadership in Lahore as part of the dialogue process.

Critically, the leaders underscored the necessity of direct and consistent access to Imran Khan to enable broader consultation and the formation of a negotiation committee reflective of the party’s core vision.

The letter also recommended that meetings with Imran Khan be held regularly to ensure coherence, continuity, and internal alignment in the dialogue process.

The initiative signals a shift in PTI’s internal dynamics and highlights growing calls from within the party ranks for a negotiated political settlement amid deepening national challenges.
