Karachi, July 2, 2025: Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of Ethiopia, met with the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, in Karachi on Wednesday to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The meeting focused on deepening collaboration in key sectors such as trade, investment, aviation, energy, and climate change. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to expanding mutually beneficial ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker also briefed the Governor on the launch of Ethiopia’s 2025 Green Legacy Initiative, inaugurated in June by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed under the theme “Renewal through Planting.” He noted that Ethiopia has successfully planted over 40 billion seedlings since 2019 and aims to plant 7.5 billion more this year to promote reforestation, enhance food security, and create employment opportunities.

To promote environmental cooperation, the Ambassador proposed a joint plantation and awareness campaign in Sindh under the banner “Ethio-Pakistan Fraternity under the Green Legacy Initiative.”

Governor Tessori welcomed the proposal and assured the full support of the Governor House Sindh in facilitating the campaign, highlighting the need for strong public mobilization to ensure its success. He also acknowledged the growing ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan and reaffirmed his support for enhancing cooperation across various fields.
