Rawalpindi, July 15, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleema Khan on Monday welcomed the gathering of PTI parliamentarians in Lahore, describing it as a positive development for the party and a sign of unity among lawmakers from Punjab.

Speaking to the media at the Gorakhpur checkpost, Aleema said the meeting reflected growing cohesion within the party’s parliamentary ranks.

“It is a good sign that all PTI parliamentarians came together in Lahore,” she said. “We had always maintained that MNAs and MPAs from Punjab would demonstrate unity, and this meeting confirms that.”

Aleema emphasized that Punjab had endured significant injustices over the past two years, and such gatherings were essential to collectively address those issues.

“The meeting should be appreciated. We all welcome it,” she added, noting that the event had the support of all participating members.

Responding to questions about the absence of certain provincial leaders, Aleema clarified that it was intended to be a meeting specifically of parliamentarians.

“We were told this was a meeting of MNAs and MPAs. We’re not aware of any deliberate exclusion of Punjab’s leadership,” she said.

Expressing cautious optimism, she concluded, “God willing, everything will be fine.”

Meanwhile, internal discord within PTI surfaced after the party’s Punjab Chief Organiser, Aliya Hamza, publicly questioned the rationale behind the party’s newly announced 90-day protest movement.

The campaign, described by party leaders as a “do-or-die” effort to challenge the government and steer PTI’s future direction, has sparked controversy following Hamza’s exclusion from a key strategy meeting held in Lahore.

When asked about her absence, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja downplayed the matter, saying Hamza had been “too busy over the past two days” to attend.

Hamza, however, responded sarcastically on social media platform X, posting:

“Such busyness that perhaps even I wasn’t aware of!”

She further criticized the lack of clarity in the protest movement’s planning, questioning whether a strategy for Imran Khan’s release had been formulated and how the campaign would be executed. Hamza also challenged the basis of the 90-day timeline, contrasting it with the previously announced August 5 deadline.

The disagreement highlights lingering tensions within PTI’s leadership as it navigates a crucial phase of political mobilisation.
