Rawalpindi, July 18, 2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, held a high-level meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday, focusing on regional security, evolving threats, and expanding bilateral defence cooperation.
According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting “encompassed discussion on matters of mutual interest, evolving regional dynamics, security challenges, and matters pertaining to defence cooperation.”
The two sides agreed to enhance defence industrial collaboration and to exchange technical expertise to effectively address contemporary security challenges. The interaction reflects the growing convergence between Pakistan and Libya on defence and strategic cooperation.
Upon arrival at GHQ, Lt. Gen. Haftar laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay homage to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army. He was also presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
The visit marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral military ties, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to contribute toward regional peace and stability through deeper cooperation.
