Bulawayo, August 9, 2025: New Zealand thrashed Zimbabwe by an innings and 359 runs in the second Test at Queens Sports Club on Saturday, completing a 2-0 series clean sweep.
Resuming their second innings on day three in reply to New Zealand’s mammoth 601/3 declared, Zimbabwe collapsed to 117 all out. Only Nick Welch offered any resistance with 47 runs, as nine of his teammates failed to reach double figures.
Zakary Foulkes was the destroyer-in-chief, taking 5/37 in nine overs to finish with match figures of 9/73. Matt Henry and Jacob Duffy picked up two wickets each, while Matthew Fisher claimed one.
Earlier, Zimbabwe’s first innings lasted just 125 runs, with Brendan Taylor top-scoring on 44. Henry took 5/32, Foulkes grabbed four wickets, and Fisher took one.
In response, New Zealand’s batting order piled on the runs. Rachin Ravindra smashed a scintillating 165 off 139 balls with 21 fours and two sixes, while Devon Conway (153), Henry Nicholls (150), and Will Young (74) compounded Zimbabwe’s misery.
For the hosts, Blessing Muzarabani, Trevor Gwando, and Vincent Masekesa each managed a wicket, but the Kiwi batting dominance proved unassailable.
Devon Conway was named Player of the Match for his big hundred, while Matt Henry earned Player of the Series honours for his consistent wicket-taking.
