Los Angeles, August 11, 2025: Prominent California politician Mohammad Arif has strongly criticized law enforcement agencies over what he called a “shameful failure” during a recent high-speed chase that spanned multiple cities in the Los Angeles area.
“It is disappointing to see that the American people are left at the mercy of criminals,” Arif said, referring to Sunday’s incident in which two suspects managed to evade capture for an extended period.
“I am deeply troubled and disappointed by this chase, where two suspects eluded multiple police departments across several cities, rendering them effectively helpless,” he added. “This is not just a law enforcement failure — it is a failure of leadership, accountability, and the responsible use of taxpayers’ money.”
Arif said the suspects endangered lives, switched vehicles, and led officers on a prolonged pursuit without immediate resolution. “The people of Los Angeles have every right to question the system,” he said. “We spend billions of tax dollars to maintain public safety, yet incidents like this expose glaring weaknesses in our policing strategy and execution.”
Calling the public frustration “justified,” Arif urged city and state authorities to launch a full review of the incident, address systemic issues, and ensure communities are protected by a capable and responsive police force.
“Public safety must be more than just a slogan — it must be a reality,” he concluded.
