Kabul, August 20, 2025: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in Kabul on Wednesday to attend the 6th Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan.

Dar was accompanied by Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq and senior Foreign Office officials. He was received at Kabul Airport by Afghanistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Naeem, Chief of Protocol Faisal Jalali, Director General (First Political) Mufti Noor Ahmad, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani.

The trilateral talks will review cooperation in trade, regional connectivity, and counter-terrorism, besides assessing progress on decisions made at the last meeting in Beijing on May 21. Extension of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as well as issues of peace, security, and the presence of terrorist organisations on Afghan soil, are expected to figure prominently in the discussions.

During his stay, Dar will also hold a bilateral meeting with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister to discuss matters of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Minister is scheduled to travel from Kabul to Islamabad later in the evening to attend the annual Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue on August 21. The visit, undertaken at Dar’s invitation, is part of regular high-level exchanges aimed at deepening the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership,” expanding economic cooperation, and reaffirming both countries’ commitment to regional peace and stability.
