North Sound, August 21, 2025: Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir etched his name in cricket history by becoming only the second Pakistani bowler to claim 400 wickets in T20 cricket, achieving the milestone during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) clash on Wednesday.
Amir, representing Trinbago Knight Riders, dismissed Fabian Allen to reach the landmark in his 343rd match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. He is now ninth on the all-time list of T20 wicket-takers. The leading Pakistani remains Wahab Riaz, who has 413 wickets in 348 matches at an economy of 7.54.
Despite Amir’s personal feat, Trinbago Knight Riders slipped to an eight-run defeat against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, led by skipper Imad Wasim.
Batting first, the Falcons posted 167-6, thanks to a blistering 69-run sixth-wicket stand between Imad (39 off 27) and Allen (45 off 20). Jewel Andrew chipped in with 22, while Usman Tariq (2/37) and Nathan Edward (2/56) led the Knight Riders’ attack.
In reply, Trinbago Knight Riders managed 159-6. Colin Munro hammered a quickfire 44 off 18, while Kieron Pollard struck an unbeaten 43 off 28, but their efforts fell short. Keacy Carty added 35, yet the middle order failed to capitalize.
For the Falcons, Obed McCoy starred with 4/39, supported by Rahkeem Cornwall and Shakib Al Hasan, who picked two wickets apiece to seal victory.
Amir’s achievement drew praise across the cricketing fraternity, marking another milestone in his rollercoaster career as he continues to feature prominently in franchise leagues worldwide.
