Damascus, September 11, 2025: Saudi Arabia has provided a grant of 1,650,000 barrels of crude oil to Syria to support the country’s energy sector, the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) announced Thursday.

The agreement, signed in Damascus by SFD CEO Sultan Al-Marshad and Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed Al Bashir, was made under the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

According to officials, the grant is intended to enhance the operations of Syrian refineries, ensure both operational and financial sustainability, and help stabilize the country’s energy supply. It also aims to support economic development, strengthen vital sectors, and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.

The initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to improving the living conditions of the Syrian people and builds on the growing cooperation between the two countries.
