Islamabad, September 12, 2025: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Friday passed a resolution in the Senate urging the federal government to provide urgent relief to flood victims through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

The resolution stated that the unprecedented devastation caused by recent floods required “an immediate coordinated national and international response.”

It pressed the government to immediately begin cash transfers to displaced families and farmers via BISP and demanded additional relief measures, including the waiver of electricity bills for millions of vulnerable people.

Calling the government’s delay “inexplicable,” the PPP said both the appeal for international assistance and the distribution of support through BISP should no longer be postponed.
