Abu Dhabi, September 16, 2025: Opener Tanzid Hasan struck a brisk half-century to help Bangladesh post a competitive total of 154/5 against Afghanistan in the ninth match of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh skipper Litton Das saw his decision vindicated as the Tigers’ top order laid a solid platform. Tanzid and Saif Hassan put on a lively 63-run opening stand before Rashid Khan struck in the seventh over to remove Saif for 30 off 28 balls, laced with two fours and a six.

Tanzid, however, carried on to anchor the innings. The left-hander crafted a 31-ball 52, peppered with four boundaries and three sixes, before falling to Noor Ahmad in the 13th over. He remained the top scorer for Bangladesh.

Towhid Hridoy chipped in with a 20-ball 26, while Jaker Ali and Nurul Hasan added useful unbeaten cameos of 12 runs each in the closing overs. Litton Das contributed 9.

For Afghanistan, Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan shared four wickets between them, while Azmatullah Omarzai picked up one.

The match is a must-win for Bangladesh, who sit third in Group B with two points from two games and need victory to keep their hopes alive for Super Four qualification.
