Islamabad/New York, September 21, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will lead Pakistan’s delegation to the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, scheduled from September 22 to 26, the Foreign Office announced on Sunday.

The prime minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, members of the federal cabinet, and senior officials.

In his address to the General Assembly, Shehbaz is expected to urge the international community to address long-standing situations of occupation and denial of self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine. He will place special focus on the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for decisive global action to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.

His speech will also outline Pakistan’s views on regional security, climate change, counterterrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development.

Beyond the General Debate, the prime minister is scheduled to participate in several high-level engagements, including meetings of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), a High-Level Meeting of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), and a Special High-Level Event on Climate Action.

Shehbaz will also join a select group of Islamic leaders in a meeting with US President Donald Trump to discuss pressing regional and international peace and security challenges.

During his stay in New York, he is expected to hold bilateral meetings with a number of world leaders and senior UN officials to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the prime minister will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism, the UN Charter, and its longstanding contributions to international peace, stability, and development. As a member of the UNSC, Pakistan will continue to work with all member states to prevent conflict, promote peace, and advance global prosperity.
