London: (IPS) – Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has been disqualified from the race for the Chancellorship of Oxford University. The university has released a list of eligible candidates for the upcoming elections, which includes 38 nominees, but Khan’s name is notably absent.

In a statement, the Oxford University administration announced that this is the first time open applications have been sought for the position. The Chancellor Election Committee has reviewed all submissions thoroughly.

Elections for the Chancellorship at Oxford University are scheduled to take place on October 28. Following the retirement announcement of Lord Patten of Barnes, the university will conduct its first-ever online popularity vote for the Chancellorship, inviting former students to rank the candidates.

Among the candidates in the running are Lord William Hague, Lord Mendelsohn, Lady Welsh Angelini, and Dr. Margaret MacMillan.
