Islamabad, October 6, 2025: In a key development in the ongoing Toshakhana 2 case, a special court on Monday gave former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi their final opportunity to defend themselves and respond to the charges.

The proceedings were held inside Adiala Jail, where both accused were presented before Special Judge Central Shah Rukh Arjumand. The judge informed the defense that cross-examination of the prosecution’s final witness, Mohsin Haroon, had been completed, marking the close of the prosecution’s evidence.

Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi confirmed before the court that the prosecution had formally rested its case.

Following this, the judge provided questionnaires under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code to both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, giving them each 29 questions to respond to in writing. The court described this as their final chance to explain their position.

The defense was granted time to consult with the accused before submitting their written replies, which are due by October 8.

The courtroom inside Adiala Jail saw attendance from several prominent figures, including Senator Ali Zafar, Senator Mishal Yousafzai, Barrister Salman Akram Raja, and Barrister Saif, along with Imran Khan’s three sisters.

The prosecution team included Bilal Butt, Barrister Umair Majeed, and Shehroz Gilani.

The court adjourned further proceedings until October 8, when the defense is expected to submit written responses and possibly produce witnesses.

Govt probes control of Imran Khan’s X account

In a related development, the federal government confirmed that it is in contact with X (formerly Twitter) over the management of Imran Khan’s official social media account, which remains active despite his imprisonment.

Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Law and Justice, said an investigation is underway to determine who is operating the account and from where.

Speaking in a TV interview, Malik said authorities are gathering digital evidence and source data to establish control of the account.

“We are directly engaging with X’s administration, and once the legal process is complete, the findings will be shared publicly,” the minister stated.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) initiated the probe after questioning Imran Khan inside Adiala Jail regarding a series of posts from his account, which officials described as anti-state and critical of the country’s foreign policy.

While the PTI founder has been incarcerated since August 2023 in the £190 million corruption case, his social media account continues to issue statements, raising questions about its management. Jail authorities have confirmed that Khan does not have access to the internet from inside the facility.

The account recently posted details of the FIA’s interrogation and Khan’s reported responses — the first such disclosures made public during his detention.
