Peshawar, October 20, 2025: The formation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has been delayed, leaving the province without a cabinet for six days since Chief Minister Sohail Afridi took oath of office.
According to official sources, the absence of a provincial cabinet has stalled several key policy decisions and the approval of important development projects. Sources said the chief minister intends to include some new faces in his cabinet, which is contributing to the delay.
Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finance adviser Muzzammil Aslam told a private news channel that the lack of a cabinet is creating administrative challenges for the provincial government. He expressed hope that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi would meet with the PTI founder within this week.
Aslam added that if the meeting does not take place, the chief minister has instructions to form a smaller cabinet. He also confirmed that funds for the second quarter of development projects have been released.
