Peshawar, October 28, 2025: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Tuesday said that he was “not brought in, but elected”, dismissing claims that his appointment was influenced by external factors.
Addressing lawyers at the Peshawar High Court, the chief minister said he had heard rumours suggesting that his visit was linked to influencing the upcoming bar council elections. “I have come here only for the rule of law,” Afridi clarified.
The KP chief minister said he wished to meet the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for policy guidance. “I have directed the Home Department to write letters to the Punjab and federal governments to allow a meeting,” he stated.
Afridi added that he had also filed a formal petition in court seeking permission for the meeting.
