Riyadh, November 9, 2025: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral defence ties and further deepen strategic cooperation, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The pledge was made during a meeting between Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Chief of General Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces, General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, in Saudi Arabia. General Mirza is currently on an official visit to the Kingdom.

“During the meeting, both sides discussed the evolving global and regional environment and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence cooperation,” the ISPR said. “The military leadership reaffirmed their resolve to further deepen the strong brotherly ties and enduring defence partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.”

In recognition of his contributions to Pakistan-Saudi Arabia military relations, General Mirza was awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal of Honour of the Excellent Class. The Saudi leadership also lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a multifaceted relationship rooted in strategic military cooperation, economic ties, and shared Islamic heritage. Riyadh has historically been a key source of financial aid and energy supplies for Islamabad.

In September 2025, both nations signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement in Riyadh, under which an attack on either country would be treated as an act of aggression against both.
